- The local King has surrounded himself with enemies, which include his own trusted men: Bhavani Singh, and Ranjeet, who plot to overthrow him, in vain, as the King's loyal employee, Samadh Khan, and the King's brother-in-law, Arjun Singh, come to his rescue. But events take an unfortunate turn when the King's newborn son is abducted by Jalal Khan, for which Samadh Khan is branded a traitor, is arrested, but escapes dramatically. After abducting the newborn prince, Jalal turns him over to the Sardar of a local gypsy band, and loses consciousness. The queen is distraught over the disappearance of her son, and Arjun offers his son in exchange, which she accepts. But Bhavani finds out about this, and switches his son with that of Arjun Singh. Years later, the Prince, Shamsher Singh, has grown up, and like Bhavani is a tyrant, womanizer and alcoholic. He soon imprisons his very own mother until such time she announces that he is to be the new king, and inflicts all kinds of atrocities on the people in the region, in her name. Arjun attempts to intervene, but is branded a traitor, and imprisoned. Will the real prince surface now to set things right? Or will he continue to live the life of a gypsy without knowing his true heritage.
- Widower Jeevanlal gets arrested for assaulting a Pharmacist as he is unable to afford medicines to treat his ill daughter, Guddu. Subsequently jailed, his repeated and vain attempts to escape only end up increasing his sentence, leaving Guddu to fend on her own. Years later he will re-surface as a wealthy male and prospective Mayor known simply as J.V.; while Guddu will be living two lives - one as the single mother of a young child, Kiran; and the other as a gun-toting alcoholic prostitute known as Bulbul.
- Brash, outspoken, and aethiest Shanker lives in a small village with his son, Mohan, and his devout wife, Durga, who is expecting another child soon. Shanker and Durga are incompatible, as Shanker believes in living for the moment, and making the most of it, while Durga believe that present actions will come back to haunt later in life, and as a result arguments take place daily. One day Shanker decides to leave and takes Mohan with him, leaving a pregnant Durga alone. Subsequently, Durga gives birth to a baby boy, Ajay, and re-locates to another place, as she can no longer afford to live there. She is looked after by a Catholic priest. Shanker and Mohan take to crime in the big city, and soon amass a huge fortune and immense wealth. Years go by, both Mohan and Ajay have grown up. Mohan and Shanker operate a crime syndicate, partnering with Keshavlal, a notorious gangster. Ajay operates a publicatin called Karmayogi, in which he publishes news and information about crime and criminals, and does an expose on Keshavlal. Mohan and Shanker want a bigger stake in the share, which Keshav agrees to, but arranges for Shanker to get killed, and blames it on Ajay. When Shanker is killed, Mohan swears to avenge his father's death and begins the trek of locating and killing Ajay.
- Classmates Rajesh and Manju are in love with each other and their marriage is on card. But Manju's rich neighbor Jwalaprasad's daughter Lata, a spoiled lady, also wants to marry Rajesh. Manju's father falls sick of stomach tumor but she does not have Rs.5000 required for an operation. Unfortunately, Rajesh is out of station for some work. She goes to Jwalaprasad for help and finds his wife at home who gives her money but on a condition. Manju should accept unmarried Lata's illicit child as her own and should never disclose the truth to anyone. Helpless Manju agrees. But that money could not save her father who succumbs to his illness. Manju leaves the vicinity. Rajesh finds her after a couple of years with the kid and accuses her of deceiving him. He turns alcoholic. Jwalaprasad finds Manju and brings her at his home to serve Mrs.Jwalaprasad, who is a dumb handicap now because of an accident. Jwalaprasad asks Manju to convince Rajesh to marry Lata. Upon Manju's insistence, Rajesh agrees. During marriage rituals, Lata's house catches fire and Lata & her kid are trapped in. Rajesh saves them but Lata dies of an injury when she tries to stop Rajesh. Shocked Mrs.Jwalaprasad regains her voice and tells all about her atrocities on Manju, to everyone. Rajesh and Manju are united again.
