To create comprehensive reference maps of all human cells—the fundamental units of life—as a basis for both understanding human health and diagnosing, monitoring, and treating disease.
The HCA community came together very quickly in early 2020 to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic, in partnership with disease consortia. From rapidly analyzing existing data to gain insights into the biology of the disease, to studying immune responses during COVID-19 infection in adults and children, HCA studies have shed light on transmission, risk of infection, impact on organs throughout the body, immune responses, the effect of different variants, and severe COVID-19. Committed to openly releasing data and analyses as rapidly as possible, we will continue to deepen scientific understanding of SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, with the goal of informing epidemiological studies and clinical care. Our work and resources to date are available below.
