Ivor Novello-nominated Amahla stands apart for her incredible voice and sociopolitical songwriting.
Her talents have earned her a mentor in Nile Rodgers of CHIC, extensive critical acclaim and a devoted following. Amahla’s voice moves through R&B, Jazz, Pop, Folk, Hip Hop and Soul and Dance music effortlessly. A musical range that echoes the rise of brilliant solo female vocalists of the past.
Raised in a Caribbean household in East London, Amahla's upbringing was filled with music and books, and a strong sense of community. Instead of attending performing arts school, Amahla chose to study Anthropology at university, using it to deepen her connection as a storyteller and activist.
Amahla's latest single the viral protest ballad ‘Enough’ released in October 2023 was recorded in three languages (English, French, Spanish) and has been adopted by fans worldwide as an anthem representing racial injustice and collective grief.
In 2024 Amahla will release a new EP 'Ooooh Honey!' dedicated to the power of women. Amahla will also embark on her first headline UK tour.
