David Ball is an American country singer-songwriter in the traditional mould with a honky-tonk sound typified by his biggest hit 'Thinkin' Problem', which reached number two on Billboard's Hot Country Songs Chart in 1994 and earned him a Grammy Award nomination. It was the title track on an album that went to number six on the Top Country Albums Chart along with 'When the Thought of You Catches Up With Me', which reached number seven on the Singles Chart that year and 'Look What Followed Me Home', which hit number eleven in 1995.Born to a preacher and his musician wife in South Carolina, Ball learned to play the guitar as a teenager and performed in Nashville, Tennessee and Austin, Texas with Walter Hyatt and Champ Hood as Uncle Walt's Band. With that experience, Ball embarked on a solo career. His debut album 'Thinkin' Problem' went double platinum and was followed by 'Starlite Lounge' (1996), 'Play' (1999) and 'Amigo' (2001). The latter, which reached number eleven on the Country Albums Chart, featured a single titled 'Riding With Private Malone' which went to number two on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart.Ball released three more albums, 'Freewheeler' (2004), 'Heartaches By the Number' (2007) and 'Sparkle City' (2010) without making headway on the charts. He continues to perform regularly with the Pioneer Playboys and in 2017 he sang at one of several events at the John F.
