Ysabel's gift lies in her ability to transform everyday stories into broken fairytales, creating a world that irresistibly captivates her audience.
With deep roots in Gospel and Soul (and a voice that brings a familiar warmth), Ysabel's sound has been linked with artists such as Lianne La Havas, and Alicia Keys, but hints at something more as she draws on her influences from indie sensations like Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine, Jake Isaac, Rachel Chinouriri, and Labrinth.
After the success of her previous release trigger, Ysabel is preparing for the imminent release of her debut album anxiety is killing my dreams. Collaboratively crafted with producer Ben Loveland, the album continues to showcase Ysabel’s distinctive lyrical and melodic prowess as an artist.
Ysabel's personal journey, which began with a diagnosis of depression at the tender age of 15, has seen her dedicate the past decade to prioritising her mental well-being and navigating her transformed existence. At 26 years old, she is now addressing her experiences in her debut album, "anxiety is killing my dreams." This album delves into themes of grief, loss, and love, offering an ode to the black community and aiming to foster openness and dialogue about mental health challenges within the community.
Ysabel's deep-seated commitment to authentic storytelling renders this album a project that holds a special place in her heart, as it conveys her passion for genuine and meaningful narratives.
