Melaine Dalibert is often hailed as an impassioned advocate of rare and minimalist repertoires. Born in 1979, he is a pianist and composer dedicated to promoting contemporary music. This dedication is evident in his involvement with Ensemble 0, his role as an educator at the Rennes Conservatory, and his work as a programmer for the Autres Mesures festival.
In addition to his performances, where he fearlessly explores both contemporary and classical piano repertoire - a realm he became familiar with during his studies at the Paris Conservatoire - Dalibert also pursues his own compositional endeavors. His unique approach blends generative processes rooted in mathematical sequences with a sensitive understanding of instrumental expression.
His music, often daring in its stretching of time, exploits the resonant properties of the piano and challenges our subjective perception of time, akin to the styles of Morton Feldman, Brian Eno, or Ryūichi Sakamoto. It allows for both detached listening and invites engaged exploration, as listeners are enveloped in the subtle determinism of algorithmic patterns.
Dalibert has released over a dozen albums on labels such as Another Timbre (UK), Elsewhere Music (USA), Sub Rosa (BG), Flau (JP), and Ici d’Ailleurs (FR). His compositions are performed by numerous pianists including Stéphane Ginsburgh, Vanessa Wagner, Nicolas Horvath, Ivan Ilic, and Célimène Daudet, and are regularly featured on international radio stations.
