Manuel Torres, otherwise known as the immeasurably energetic American hardstyle DJ and
producer Distrix, hails from Austin, Texas. His musical style is one that holds no punches
and can only be described as pounding, fierce and in your face.
From very early on, Manuel was a huge music fan, and as many artists do, he progressed
through different genres before arriving at his chosen sound. In 2003 when his musical
journey started, he began with the sounds of hard house, hard trance and breaks. But as
soon as he discovered hardstyle, it immediately brought him an immense happiness. It was
then he realised he’d discovered the genre that would take his musical journey in a more
serious and professional direction.
After 5 years of learning and developing his music production skills, it was now time for his
first release. In 2015, he released his first Subground E.P. with one of the genres most well
respected labels, Gearbox Digital, a fantastic achievement for a debut release.
Although Distrix is known for rawphoric hardstyle, he also delves into the sound of hardcore
occasionally. Either way, his music is all about uplifting power and energy, giving listeners an
overwhelming emotional euphoric experience they will never forget.
With the harder styles of dance music becoming ever more popular around the world year
after year, Distrix has also enjoyed a spectacular and continuously growing DJ career,
performing alongside the biggest names in the scene, including: Showtek, Headhunterz,
Angerfist, LNY TNZ, Kutski, JDX, Dj Thera, Killshot, Sefa, to name but a few.
Distrix’s biggest crowd to date to perform for would be a packed-out arena of over 1,500
hardstyle fans. His DJ performances have also secured him bookings in Europe, playing
Straight from the Heart in Tilburg, followed by DJ Thera’s Birthday Bash in Venlo, both in the
Netherlands.
On the music production front, he released his first rawphoric track in 2018 with Theracords
LABS called, “On The Edge,” with a follow up released soon after, called, “Wasting Away”.
In 2020, he released his first hardcore track with Afterlife Recordings, called “Brain Pauze”,
which so far is Distrix’s biggest release to date. It was featured on Art Of Dance and Masters
Of Hardcore official Spotify playlist. In late 2021, he released “In My Head” on Scantraxx
Prospexx and “Rush” on RSLVD Records which are two huge leading hardstyle labels within
the scene. This year, 2022, he has released two tracks with Scantraxx Prospexx. The first
track being, “La Revolution” and the newest track to date is, “Immortal.”
His music has also had the accolade of being praised in DJ Mag on 3 occasions by one of
the UK’s biggest artists: Kutski
After completing his 2023 European tour, Distrix performed at the internationally renowned
Dutch festival "REBiRTH" in Haaren, Netherlands in April.
