MSP defends comments on FM's 'interest' over Gaza

A Conservative MSP has said he does not regret his choice of language relating to a row over the motivation for Scotland donating funds for Gaza.

The Scottish government donated £250,000 to the UNRWA aid agency in November 2023, at the same time as First Minister Humza Yousaf's parents-in-law were among millions unable to leave the enclave.

Mr Yousaf has described accusations that he may have had a conflict of interest in sending funding to Gaza as an "outrageous smear" and "far right conspiracy".

Speaking to BBC Scotland's The Sunday Show, Tory MSP Stephen Kerr said this was an "overreaction" and that there was nothing unusual in asking questions about why decisions were made.
