Post Office to relocate to convenience store
- Published
A proposal has been put forward by the Post Office to relocate a branch following the resignation of the current postmaster.
Ford Post Office, on Hylton Road, Sunderland, is set to move to another store on the same street in a bid to maintain service.
If approved, it will be housed inside a Premier convenience store following the appointment of a new operator.
The Post Office has started a period of public consultation which will last six weeks.
Feedback from locals who use the Ford Post Office has been requested, to help inform the decision.
The consultation will focus on how accessible the new location is, as well as whether any community issues could be affected by the move.
It has been extended for the pre-general election period as there is no sitting MP for local constituents to engage with until after the vote.
The Post Office said: "We will provide clear information on any changes to services, as well as access to and into the new branch."
Public consultation started on 30 May and ends on 25 July, with a view to the move taking place between August and September.
