posted on by Egan Loo
The first poster for Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends (Rurouni Kenshin: Densetsu no Saigo-hen), the second of two live-action Rurouni Kenshin sequel films, debuted on Wednesday. The poster features a mysterious figure holding Kenshin's reverse-blade sword over Kenshin himself, wounded on the ground.
The films' official Twitter account also showed what Kenshin's nemesis Shishio did to unwind during his appearance at Tokyo's Shinjuku Piccadilly theater this past weekend. The first sequel film, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno (Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Taika-hen), opened on Friday.
The Twitter account celebrated the #1 ranking of Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno at the Japanese box office this past weekend:
Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno (Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Taika-hen), the first of two live-action Rurouni Kenshin sequel films, opened nationwide in Japan on Friday. In three days, it sold 645,086 tickets for 822,734,430 yen (about US$8 million). In the process, it garnered the biggest opening of any Japanese live-action film this year.
Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno will premiere in The Philippines — the first Asian country outside Japan — on August 6. Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends will then open in Japan on September 13.
