Great Build Quality, Very Bright, Don't Love the Power Button Design

Stout flashlight. My teenager says I'm "addicted to flashlights." With that in mind, I like this one. Four Stars not Five because of the minor dislike and minor problem noted above. Nevertheless, if I had spent money to buy this flashlight, I would have been satisfied with my purchase. Recommended.
I keep it on my ekickscooter as an emergency light + at night it could easily pass as a self defense tool.
I have only had it happen twice, but the light cut out and the power button flashed a few times then it wouldn't turn back on. I resolved it by unscrewing the battery door and reseated the battery. It worked right away. Not sure if it was a glitch with the battery protection or something, but worth noting.
I just wish it was 21700 instead of 18650, but I have several of both types on hand.
I don't trust the 3x AAA adapter as it could be a good backup for longer use, but with that kind of brightness and power pull, I just don't feel good using it in that mode. I can only imagine how fast those batteries would drain on high beam.
It's hit the floor a few times and no visible signs of damage after hitting ceramic tiles.
The clip feels solid and rigid for quick belt/shirt/strap securing/deploying.
I like that it is rechargeable. If you have a longer term power failure, the light comes with an adaptor so you can use CR123A batteries. The rechargeable battery is sufficient for me needs right now. Having the option makes it more utilitarian. It's easy to charge with the built-in USB-C outlet.
The barrel is made of metal so it is sturdy and will stand up to a lot of use. I do wish that the barrel had a bit of knurling on it though. That would help with grip if the barrel gets wet. It is smooth, so can get a little slippery.
There are three lighting modes on the main button toward the front of the light. You get the usual high, medium and low. The tailcap also functions to get you into a flashing mode. It is rated IP68 for water-resistance. That means it can withstand submersion in one meter of water for 30 minutes. The head of the light will get hot if you run it on the brightest setting for a while.
Overall, it is a bright light with an easy-to-use menu button. It is rechargeable, which saves money on batteries. It's handy for emergencies, and can withstand some water and dust. The build quality is good. I think it is a good value and am happy with this purchase.

The button on the back activates a strobe feature when you hold it down, which has some uses. It's not a feature I'll use often, but it does work well!

High quality building using a durable all-aluminum design that looks very nice. It measures approx. 15cm (long) x 3.4cm (head diameter) x 2.8cm (body diameter) and weighs 184g with the battery and 135g without making it fairly compact and light
Strong removable belt clip that includes a rubber/silicone protective piece, so the clip doesn’t scrape on any hard surfaces when attached/removed.
The end cap comes off and shows the dual O-rings to keep the light water resistant (it’s rated as IP68 waterproof). I found I would misalign the threads a lot when trying to screw the cap back on. I think it may be from the very fine threads and the double O-rings. I would have preferred larger threads as it would prevent misaligning and possibly screwing up the threads.
The product description indicates that the light is zoomable, but I can confirm it is not. It uses a single LED module centered under what feels like a glass lens.
There are 2 power on modes, button on the side or the quick press tactical button on the end cap. The tactical button allows the light to stay on as long as you’re holding the button and turns off as soon as you release. This eliminates the need to cycle through the mode before turning off the light. There may be situation where you need a quick hit of light at maximum lumens to disorient an intruder.
Powering on the light using the standard side power button and it defaults to low. Subsequent presses go to medium, high & then off. There is no memory function and no option to press and hold the power button to turn off the light, so you have to cycle through the light modes to turn it off.
The tactical button on the back is dual functioned. A shallow press & hold provides you maximum brightness, more than when in high mode. This is really meant for short bursts as it does drain power quickly and the flashlight gets warm. The second function is if you press all the way down and hold the button down (you can hear a defined click), this will enable a very disorienting strobe at Turbo brightness. Releasing the button at any point turns off the light.
During the use of the tactical button and enabling Turbo mode, the light flashed a couple times and then turned off and would not turn back on. The side button wouldn’t function as well. I needed to unscrew the endcap and screw back on for the light to start working again. I original thought it was because the battery wasn’t charged, so I charged up the flashlight (side power button pulses white when charging and turns off when complete). After it was fully charged, I was able to get Turbo mode again. But again, after a couple uses (just a few seconds total), I noticed that the side power button LED was flashing red. According to the manual, this means that the battery is low. Not sure how that happened as I just charged the battery moments earlier. I removed the battery and placed it into my 18650 charger and found that the mR (milliohms of resistance) was at 107mR, which from my research, is very high and anything over 100 fully charged should be replaced. After running a full Nor Test on the battery, it is only capable of achieving 3.54V for a 3.7V battery which is why the flashlight indicates a problem with the battery. So, it looks like the included battery was not up to the quality of the flashlight itself. Unfortunately, this flashlight required an 18650 battery with a button top vs the bulk 18650 batteries I have, so I won’t be able to get a lot of Turbo mode brightness out of the flashlight. It does come with a spacer to allow you to use 2 x CR123A batteries, but this is not something most people would have available at home. A more common 3 x AAA adapter like most flashlights provide would have been better.
I did find a couple 18650 batteries I got from Amazon that were rated as 3600mAh but had a flat top. I DIY’d the battery with a small round magnet that acted like a button. This allowed the flashlight to actually function, but unfortunately, either the DIY caused too much of a voltage loss or the flashlight just needs a specific battery to be used, but the Turbo mode was just as bright as the High mode, so it doesn’t hit the rated 2500lm.
From the testing I was able to do before the battery errored out and with the DIY battery, I was able to test the different modes. Turning on the light using the side power button, it defaults to Low mode, Med, High & then off.
The light pattern is it creates has a bright hotspot in the center with a light ring around the hotspot when up close. The hotspot is slightly malformed and not perfectly circular as I’d expect. The edges of the light ring also have notches as the flashlight housing as a mild striking bezel around the lens. Normally it’s a bit more aggressive, but this will work to protect the lens on drops and striking. Further away, the light almost turns into a flood providing a soft light that covers a lot of area.
Switching modes provides gradual increase and not too abrupt. The colour temp of the light is yellowish but has a greenish tint to it, which is a bit weird. Medium still has a slight yellowish/greenish tint but has a brighter hotspot. On High, the center hotspot is yellowish/white, with a yellowish/greenish ring around the hotspot and the outer ring is cold-white, which is what you’d expect a cold white temp for the entire light pattern from an LED flashlight.
Overall, a very good looking flashlight with a durable build. Good light output and convenient tactical button cap. Unfortunately, the light colour temp was a bit off-putting as I normally don’t see a greenish tint in any of my flashlight output. But the major item was the defective button top battery it came with. Button tops are less common than the bulk flat top batteries, which I have plenty of, but the flashlight is not designed to support these battery types, so specific batteries are needed. Or, 2 x CR123A batteries could have been used in the included spacer adapter, but these aren’t common to have in a household. A very easy way to make it compatible with any battery type is to have had a button or spring on the flashlight side and this would have made it universal. And, at the time of this review, a price of $109.99 plus a 15% off coupon is available, I would have expected more. It doesn’t matter how beautiful something looks if you can’t make it work properly out of the box. Definitely something HOTO needs to improve on. Would I buy this light again? My response would be no, I’d look for a much better light at this price.
