About us

Aesop—which has been part of L’Oréal Luxe since 2023—was established in Melbourne in 1987. Since then, we have been formulating products with efficacy foremost in mind—their complex, distinctive aromas are but an incidental treat. 

In each of our unique stores and counters, informed consultants help customers select the products that are best suited to their actual needs—collaborating with office-based team members who help cultivate our retail focus.  

We offer employees professional development and opportunities for advancement, within our regional and global offices, and retail stores around the world.

Alongside our commercial activities, we explore and support the arts as an avenue through which to inspire, learn, and communicate.

Notes on culture

Our quiet sense of nonconformity distinguishes and motivates us as we elevate the experience of living by enriching the senses, self, and surrounds. Day-to-day, our culture expresses itself in ‘micro’ codes (opting for black pens and notebooks, ensuring bottle labels always face forwards, et cetera) that are all based on the following ‘macro’ values.

We dedicate ourselves fervently to humble but significant philanthropic endeavours, and our approach is best described by the adage ‘actions speak louder than words’.

The Aesop Foundation partners with charitable organisations that create just and safe spaces for all people to thrive. 

Our people play an integral role in our continued success. We support and encourage our employees’ endeavours to learn and grow; whether working towards the mastery of a specialist skill, building experience that will enable them to apply to an aspirational role, or strengthening their portable life skills.

We take a holistic approach to ensure genuine wellbeing and psychological safety by focusing on supporting professional, physical, financial and emotional wellbeing. All employees around the global also have access to a local wellbeing provider through our employee assistance program.
