Australian couple and Filipino companion found dead at luxury Philippine hotel, officials confirm
The mayor of a Philippine town has apologised to Australia, after an Australian couple and their Filipina companion were found dead inside their hotel.
The Associated Press reports the three victims were found with their hands and feet bound, in a hotel room in Tagaytay city, south of the capital Manila.
The victims are reportedly an Australian man in his 50s, his Philippine-born partner, and her Filipina relative.
Police have told media they are treating it as a murder.
The local mayor, Abraham Tolentino, has vowed the incident will be resolved "as soon as possible".
"We were shocked by this incident," he said. "We're very sorry to our Australian friends."
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to the families of two Australians who have died in the Philippines, according to a spokesperson.
