Crime scene established at West Wallsend site of e-scooter, ute collision where man died

A man has died after the electric scooter he was riding crashed with a ute near Newcastle.

Police said the accident happened at around 12:15pm on Appletree Road, outside West Wallsend High School.

Officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District rushed to the scene, alongside NSW Ambulance paramedics.

On arrival police said they found a man, believed to be aged in his 30s, had fallen off an e-scooter.

Paramedics performed CPR but he could not be revived.
