A woman has allegedly bitten two police officers responding to a house fire in Western Australia's Pilbara.

Police and firefighters were called to a home on Mitchie Crescent in South Hedland, about 1,600 kilometres north of Perth, just after 1am on Friday.

Police allege a 43-year-old woman bit two female officers — one on the hand and one on the arm — and threw sand in the eyes of another.

Another officer at the scene was allegedly attacked by a dog, receiving a minor injury.

The woman has been charged with three counts of assaulting a public officer and one count of obstructing a public officer.

She is due to appear in South Hedland Magistrates Court on February 28.

The home was fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived, but the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

It is believed several people were in the home when the fire began.
