One woman dead, another injured in altercation at Beckenham home in Perth's south-east
The body of a woman aged in her 60s has been found in a home in Beckenham in Perth's south-east after police received reports of a disturbance at the property.
Key points:
- The woman's body was found late on Saturday night after a report to police
- An injured woman in her 30s was also found at the Beckenham house
- Police are searching for a man to assist in their inquiries
Officers also found a woman in her 30s with injuries at the scene.
Police were on Sunday afternoon interviewing Deng David Ker, who was allegedly seen leaving the Ulandi Court home around 11:30pm on Saturday.
Officers believe he may be able to assist with their inquiries.
It is believed the parties are known to each other.
Homicide Squad Detective Senior Sergeant Keith Neubronner said investigations were still in the early stages.
"Both women we believe were assaulted with an edged weapon of some sort — we're not sure what kind of a weapon it was," Sergeant Neubronner told media on Sunday morning.
"We have no idea what has actually happened inside the house. We know an altercation has occurred, but the actual intricacies of it all, we have no idea at this point in time."
Pressed on whether Mr Ker was considered a suspect, Sergeant Neubronner advised caution while the investigations remained ongoing.
"I wouldn't call him a suspect, I'd call him a person who can assist us at this point in time," he said.
"We are very early in this investigation. We've received information from an eyewitness that put him at the house, so … hopefully he can tell us his side of the story."
A heavy police presence remains at the scene, where forensic investigations are continuing.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
