Stevenson High School (Lincolnshire, Illinois)

Adlai E. Stevenson High School (AESHS), commonly called Stevenson High School (SHS), is a public four-year high school located in Lincolnshire, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago.

The school serves students in the area's District 125 coming from Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Prairie View, portions of Buffalo Grove, Mundelein, Kildeer, Hawthorn Woods and smaller portions of Vernon Hills, Lake Zurich, Lake Forest, Mettawa, Riverwoods, Bannockburn and Deerfield.

Awards and recognition

In Newsweek's 2009 Top 1500 high schools in the United States, which bases school rankings on a ratio of advanced Placement exams taken compared to the student population, Stevenson was ranked #151 in the nation. The school had been previously ranked #69 (2003), #86 (2005), #121 (2006), #170 (2007), and #154 (2008).

In 2010, Stevenson High School was awarded the National School of Distinction in Arts Education from the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

Premature ejaculation

Premature ejaculation (PE) occurs when a man experiences orgasm and expels semen soon after sexual activity and with minimal penile stimulation. It has also been called early ejaculation, rapid ejaculation, rapid climax, premature climax, and (historically) ejaculatio praecox. There is no uniform cut-off defining "premature", but a consensus of experts at the International Society for Sexual Medicine endorsed a definition including "ejaculation which always or nearly always occurs prior to or within about one minute". The International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) applies a cut-off of 15 seconds from the beginning of sexual intercourse.

Although men with premature ejaculation describe feeling that they have less control over ejaculating, it is not clear if that is true, and many or most average men also report that they wish they could last longer. Men's typical ejaculatory latency is approximately 4–8 minutes.

Men with PE often report emotional and relationship distress, and some avoid pursuing sexual relationships because of PE-related embarrassment. Compared with men, women consider PE less of a problem, but several studies show that the condition also causes female partners distress.

LGM-30 Minuteman

The LGM-30 Minuteman is a US land-based intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), in service with the Air Force Global Strike Command. As of 2014, the LGM-30G Minuteman III version is the only land-based ICBM in service in the United States.

Development of the Minuteman began in the mid-1950s as the outgrowth of basic research into solid fuel rocket motors which indicated an ICBM based on solids was possible. Such a missile could stand ready for extended periods of time with little maintenance, and then launch on command. In comparison, existing US missile designs using liquid fuels required a lengthy fueling process immediately before launch, which left them open to the possibility of surprise attack. This potential for immediate launch gave the missile its name; like the Revolutionary War's Minutemen, the Minuteman was designed to be launched on a moment's notice.

Minuteman entered service in 1962 as a weapon tasked primarily with the deterrence role, threatening Soviet cities with a counterattack if the US was attacked. However, with the development of the US Navy's Polaris which addressed the same role, the Air Force began to modify Minuteman into a weapon with much greater accuracy with the specific intent of allowing it to attack hardened military targets, including Soviet missile silos. The Minuteman-II entered service in 1965 with a host of upgrades to improve its accuracy and survivability in the face of an anti-ballistic missile (ABM) system the Soviets were known to be developing. Minuteman-III followed in 1970, using three smaller warheads instead of one large one, which made it very difficult to attack by an anti-ballistic missile system which would have to hit all three widely separated warheads to be effective. Minuteman-III was the first multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle (MIRV) ICBM to be deployed. Each missile can carry up to three nuclear warheads, which have a yield in the range of 300 to 500 kilotons.

Emily (film)

Emily, also known as The Awakening of Emily, is a 1976 British-made soft-core erotic film made by Henry Herbert, starring Koo Stark as a young woman discovering her sensual side.

The film was frequently shown on HBO and other cable TV pay channels during the early 1980s, when such channels sought R-rated programming not available on regular TV. It also gained some attention due to a romantic fling between Stark and Prince Andrew, cementing his tabloid nickname of "Randy Andy".

The film was lent a degree of legitimacy by its soundtrack having been composed and sung by the famous singer/poet Rod McKuen.

Emily (Thomas & Friends)

Emily the Stirling Engine is a steam locomotive from the television series Thomas & Friends. She was the first female steam engine to be featured in the television series, and became a member of the "Steam Team", as the eight core characters of the series which she became in Calling All Engines! & appeared in lots of episodes more often. She is also the only female in the Steam Team. She is painted dark-green and has two large driving wheels and a shiny brass safety valve cover.

She arrived on Sodor in 2003 in the Thomas & Friends (series 7) episode: "Emily's New Coaches".

When she first arrived on the Island of Sodor, she took Thomas's coaches Annie and Clarabel by mistake, much to Thomas' dismay. However, after she rescued Thomas and Oliver from an accident, Thomas forgave her and The Fat Controller rewarded her with two coaches of her own. Emily acts as a sisterly figure to the other engines. She is very kind and friendly and always sensitive to the other engines' feelings. If she wrongs someone, knowingly or not, she is quick to apologize. She speaks with a Scottish accent in the U.K. narration of the series, while in the U.S narration, she speaks with an American accent.

Emily (The X-Files)

"Emily" is the seventh episode of the fifth season of American science fiction television series The X-Files. It was written by Vince Gilligan, John Shiban and Frank Spotnitz and directed by Kim Manners. The episode explores the series' overarching mythology. The episode premiered in the United States on December 14, 1997 on the Fox network, earning a Nielsen household rating of 12.4 and being watched by 20.94 million people in its initial broadcast. It received mixed reviews from television critics.

The show centers on FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) who work on cases linked to the paranormal, called X-Files. Mulder is a believer in the paranormal, while the skeptical Scully has been assigned to debunk his work. In this episode, Scully fights to protect her daughter’s life, while Mulder discovers her true origins. It is eventually discovered that Emily was created during Scully's abduction. Emily suffers from a tumorous infection and subsequently dies.
