Fifth grade

Fifth grade (called Grade 5 in some regions) is a year of education in many nations. The fifth grade is the fifth school year after kindergarten. Students are usually 10–13 years old. Depending on the school district, the grade may be in one of the following scenarios: the first year of middle school, the last year of elementary school, the last year of intermediate school, or none of those. Also, in other schools Grade 4 and 5 are one school. In Asian countries like India, fifth grade education is also known as 'class 5' which is usually the last grade of the primary education system.

Structure

While courses of study are not regimented nationwide across either country, some conventional expectations of subject matter are generally taught in this grade:

  • In mathematics, students usually master long division and work with multiplication of vulgar fractions and decimals. Sometimes this also includes initial exposure to ratios and percentages. Pre-Algebra is sometimes offered as an honors course. Fifth graders may also work more on more advanced long division, such as dividing in the double digits, hundreds, and thousands.

    Pity For A Dime

    by: Creed

    An artificial season
    Covered by summer rain
    Losing all my reason
Cause there's nothing left to blame
    Shadows paint the sidewalk
A living picture in a frame
    See the sea of people
All their faces look the same
So I sat down for awhile
    Forcing a smile
    In a state of self-denial
    Is it worthwhile
Sell my pity for a dime
    Yeah, Just one dime
Sell my pity for a dime
    Yeah, Just one dime
Plain talk can be the easy way
    Signs of losing my faith
    Losing my faith
Plain talk can be the easy way
    Signs of losing my faith
    Losing my faith
So I sat down for awhile
    Yeah, Forcing a smile
    In a state of self-denial
    Yeah, Is it worthwhile
Sell my pity for a dime
    Yeah, Just one dime
Sell my pity for a dime
    Yeah, Just one dime
So I sat down for awhile
    Yeah, Forcing a smile
    In a state of self-denial
    Yeah, Is it worthwhile
Sell my pity for a dime
    Yeah, Just one dime
Sell my pity for a dime
