6th World Heritage Site Managers' Forum

18-25 July 2024

Heritage and communities: inclusive and effective approaches for the sustainable management of World Heritage sites

The 6th edition of the World Heritage Site Managers’ Forum was held in New Delhi, India, from 18 to 25 July 2024, in conjunction with the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee. The Forum brought together 82 professionals responsible for the management of 82 World Heritage properties, located in 34 countries, to reflect on the theme “Heritage and communities: inclusive and effective approaches for the sustainable management of World Heritage sites”.

The Forum served as a platform to engage with communities and draw insights from successful frameworks where they contribute to managing World Heritage properties. To this end, the World Heritage property of Humayun’s Tomb, Delhi, was taken as a case study. The Declaration of the Forum, which reflects the voices of the Forum participants, was addressed to the World Heritage Committee.
