Monday, 6 November 2006
On the occasion of the United Nations' International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict, the World Heritage Centre would like to draw attention to the project "Biodiversity Conservation in Regions of Armed Conflict: Protecting World Heritage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo". Initiated in 2000, the project continues with the support of the governments of Belgium and Italy, the United Nations Foundation and in collaboration with the Congo Institute for Nature Conservation (ICCN) and conservation NGOs.
