Me: Good day everyone
Everyone else: Hi!
Me: Hi, my name is Jason Tan and I’m a running addict. I’ve been running for over a year now and decided to start this blog in 2013 to chronicle and share my running journey. A year ago I am severely overweight (and totally unfit) at 92kg and sought a sporting activity to help me get my physical shape back on track. Since discovering this new addiction called ‘Running’, I can’t seem to stop myself. Probably it’s the so called ‘runner’s high’ that every addict experience. You know what I mean don’t you.
I’ve since got my weight under control (I’m 72kg now). But worrying about my weight has been a thing of the past. Running is so much more than just about being fit. Running has given me an outlet to be free! Running has pushed me to strive for greater things (in running and in life). In a year I’ve completed my first 10k, half marathon and full marathon (what many consider as everyone’s Everest). Running has made me realize what I am truly capable of when I put my mind and heart into it. And I’m always curious of what running has in store for me in the future. An ultramarathon perhaps?
When I’m not running I’m a lecturer at a local college in Malaysia. I love reading too, especially those written by Stephen King, Jeffrey Archer and Ken Follett. Feel free to talk to me about it. I love the occasional visit to the movies. The movie ‘A Beautiful Mind’, a biopic of the famed but schizophrenic mathematician John Nash is what made me chose my career path in the field of academics.
My passion is to help, motivate and inspire people through running. Do follow my blog and let’s go through the distance together.
Running goals for 2013:
- Complete 12 full marathons in 12 months.
- Complete a sub 5 hour marathon to qualify for Comrades next year
- Complete an ultra marathon (TMBT 50k)
