Chiến tranh Iraq hay Chiến dịch Đất nước Iraq Tự do[45] theo cách gọi của Chính phủ Hoa Kỳ là một cuộc chiến tranh diễn ra tại Iraq từ ngày 20 tháng 3 năm 2003[46][47] đến ngày 18 tháng 12 năm 2011 giữa một bên là Lực lượng Đa Quốc gia do Hoa Kỳ dẫn đầu với một bên là chính quyền Saddam Hussein (ban đầu) và các lực lượng nổi dậy (về sau). Lực lượng Đa Quốc gia đã lật đổ được chính quyền của Saddam Hussein. Tuy nhiên, các lực lượng nổi dậy vẫn chưa được trấn áp hoàn toàn, khiến cho mặc dù Tổng thống Hoa Kỳ đã tuyên bố rút hết quân chính quân và kết thúc chiến tranh nhưng vẫn phải để lại gần 50 vạn nhân viên quân sự[cần dẫn nguồn] dưới tư cách cố vấn quân sự cho chính quyền Iraq mới.[48][49][50]
