The floral print is inspired by the 'kopou' orchid, the state flower indigenous to the state of Assam in Northeast India. The print is done by hand using wooden blocks carved with the design. Block printing is the earliest technique of printing on a fabric which involves a design or pattern to be carved onto wooden blocks. The block is then covered with dye or ink and finally stamped on the fabric to transfer the design. The beauty of block prints is that there can be many permutations and combinations within a single block that uses more than one colour. FABRIC COMPOSITION: - 100% cotton - The handmade nature of the print may result in imperfect pieces that are unique and celebrate the beauty of traditional craftsmanship. WASH & CARE: Cotton is a comfortable fabric but wrinkles easily. It is tough to iron washed cotton that has been tumbled in the wash or dried in harsh sun. For easier ironing, - Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent - Do not soak - Dry in shade - Iron on high heat on reverse while still damp - Do not tumble dry - May also be dry cleaned - Wet washing is kinder to our environment.
