Working on putting together a class for this so doing a lot of construction experiments and some lesser experiments (so far) with types of tentacles. Jellyfish really come in quite a wide variety. Some tentacles look a lot like kelp and others are very fine - it's been quite interesting studying them for this project.

This octopus is needle felted using 100% pure Canadian sheep's wool. I begin with plain rough wool roving to make the core shape, and finish the item with a smooth covering of fine Merino wool. The black eyes are plastic. This needle felted octopus is approximately 17 cm in diameter and 6 cm tall. Because each item is made individually by hand, sizes are approximate, and each animal turns out uniquely! Many years ago I discovered the art of needle felting. When you needle felt, you stab wool fiber repeatedly with a very sharp, barbed needle. The barbs of the needle felt the wool into shapes and thus you can sculpt it!
