NATURAL DYEING | REBECCA DESNOS on Instagram: "You don’t need to buy dye extracts to make beautiful colours 🌈 We have natural dyes all around us just waiting to be unlocked. When I started natural dyeing years ago, I bought all my dyes. Then I realised that the alder tree across the road from my home was dripping with dye potential. If you combine alder cone dye with iron, you can make gorgeous grey and forest green shades (depending on the mordant and fibre). Alder cone dye was the beginning of a wonderful adventure for me ☺️ My book BOTANICAL COLOUR AT YOUR FINGERTIPS will help you get started with natural dyeing. Begin foraging for your local colour and make your own unique colour palette. Have you explored any of your local dye plants?" Making dye is a lot like making a strong pot of herbal tea. 💚 Simmer your plants in water and allow the pot to stand for a few hours. 💚 Strain, then add your mordanted or pretreated fabric. 💚 Gently heat the pot of dye and stir regularly for an even colour. 💚 Rinse and dry. 2️⃣ Make rosemary hair growth spray! 💚 Boil filtered water. 💚 Add your sprigs of rosemary, turn off the heat and cover. 💚 Allow the water to cool. 💚 Transfer to a spray bottle. 💚 Spray your herbal water onto the scalp after washing to stimulate hair growth and reduce any hair loss. 💚 Keep in the fridge and use within a Dyeing With Tea, Plant Dyed Fabric, Rosemary Hair Growth Spray, Uses Of Rosemary, Natural Dyes For Fabric, Natural Fabric Dye, Natural Green Dye, Herbal Water, Tea Dyed Fabric
