Book editors understand that written and oral communications are different. Naturally, people write the way they talk. But as you advance in the craft, you realise that written communication requires more attention than oral. When talking, you can readily correct yourself or rephrase a sentence to give your audience clarity. But when you write, there is little or no room for repetitions. Repetitions are considered redundant! They make your ideas look stuttering. Of course, you should express yourself in your book, but frequent expression of the same thing is a put off to readers. Readers want to progress from one issue/illustration to another within your work, and move on with their lives. 🙂 A book full of unnecessary repetitions sadly presents the writer as being bereft of ideas. And the moment your readers have that mindset about your works, it's not healthy for your brand. Well, bother less about that if you have a competent #bookeditor. ✌️✌️ That's what we operate out from your novels, and academic books. I made this comment on a book I edited for a client last week. To be sincere, I don't like processes too... Did you read the short post I published yesterday? If you didn't, here is the link to glance through it. https://lnkd.in/d_f6Uw5H The truth remains that processes are boring. Abiding by the law of process can deceive you to believe that you are stagnant and unyielding. Processes can mean iterating an action with little or no visible changes. And this can stir boredom, and sometimes, discouragement. Imagine this... You are in the process of writing your book. You have been writing consistently for probably 6 months. Maybe it's a year or 2 now. But the more you keep writing, the longer the process keeps getting. It now looks as if the book project won't stop. You are exhausted with typing on your system or writing in your notepad everyday. You wonder when this process will be over; when the manuscript will have a page with "the end." You desire to graduate to another project because, of course, you need to explore. And now, you are contemplating forsaking the book project for another time so you can move to something else. You want to throw in the towel because you are bored of the monotonous action. ....I get your drift. The truth is, I have been there before and I can explain that feeling. However, what has always helped me remain diligent in the process of any task is the mindset that: ✅ Processes are refining tools for growth and improvement. ✅ They are meant to build in me patience and perseverance which are required for long-term success. ✅ Processes are designed to help me understand the essence of commitment and consistency. ✅ Abiding by the law of process helps me become the best and produce the best. Therefore, the next time you contemplate giving up on a task just because of the intimidating process involved, think on these four benefits listed above. This is not the time to give up. Not now. Not ever. Stick to the process. Enjoy the process. Explore the process. Keep exploring creativity. 💥

Done with judging the PHNX entries… Oh how refreshing it was to dive into such a huge pool of creative concepts. This is my 4th year with the The PHNX Awards… And what a huge responsibility jurors have in giving points from one to 10. Of course they are criteria to abide by but still, it is so subjective. I gave my best points to the campaigns that managed to wow me at first sight, since I was mostly judging print categories. But also design/packaging and good causes. The latter category was a bit disappointing. There was very few stunning campaigns in that space. Plenty lacked authenticity. Also not many campaigns from the Middle East, at least in the categories I had to judge. Dommage! PHNX is a unique opportunity: it is free till shortlists are out and its diverse jury of creatives, industry leaders, marketers, strategists, journalists and consultants is the only one of its kind. The results for entrants is often unlike any other in the global awards landscape.. Now the dices are rolled.
