Translation of system messages into Uyghur needed

Hi everyone, These interface messages need to be translated from English into Uyghur. If you are Uyghur and wish to help translate those messages into Ugyhur, simply request translator priviledges here. --Jose77 01:19, 6 3-Ay 2009 (UTC) (Otherwise the Uyghur Wikipedia interface will continue to remain in English or Uyghur Latin script)

Uyghurche

I came here to tell you that the interwiki link is "Oyghurque" please fix it and rename it ئۇيغۇر تىلى or whatever is correct.

The mistake has been corrected. Thanks for pointing it out. --Jose77 22:46, 29 Awghust 2007 (UTC)

Script

Latin alphabet for this language is obsolete. It was only used for a very short time and is rarely used today.

It is not obsolete. There are 500,000 Uyghur expatriates who still use it. --Jose77 10:00, 9 9-Ay 2007 (UTC)

Here are some websites that still use the Latin or Cyrillic Alphabet:

If Uyghur is written in Cyrillic too, why isn't it used on this Wiki?

Because its too complicated with Arabicscript going right to left, and having everything three times.

Good News!

Kazakh wikipedia is running in multiscript (Cyrillic, Latin and Arabic). Lets learn from them. --203.173.138.159 20:39, 30 دېكابىر/Dékabir/декабир 2006 (UTC)

Multi-Script convertor

Hi,

I notice Uyghur wiki need a convertor for switching the scripts: Latin-Cyrillic-Arabic. The examples You may find on Kazakh wikis. For MediaWiki software look in SVN language files (See LanguageXx.php and MessagesXx.php for kk, zh, sr) kk:Қатысушы:AlefZet-- 22:05, 9 3-Ay 2007 (UTC)

hi, I have an idea, that the Uyghur Wikipedia can also use the script-trans-system which likes Kazak Wikipedia, http://kk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Басты_бет.

the name of Oyghurque is totally wrong, how can people correct it?

good news

There has been already a software (called: yulghun.exe) which can convert three different Uyghur scripts(arabic, cyrillic and latin=UKY) to each other, just by one click! works well under windows xp professional, windows 2000. here is the download location:

warning: your microsoft netframe should be Net Framework V.2.0 or higher, otherwise yulghun.exe won´t work!

I just found a uyghur script converter website, which can convert latin script and arabic script to each other, check the link below and scroll down little bit until the enf of the list and there is a part called "misiran tor bet aylandurghuchi" put the web address to the first box, next box is options and click 'aylandurush' then you will see changed page.

why

Hi, why there is two version of uyghur wiki, i am bit confused. lately i am working for this version. but my friends in china told me that they can not open this link. The another one is completely in arabic script, and has lot more articles...which one we should stick to?

here is the link:

Barat

I do not know why your friends could not view this site. It is very unlikely that the Chinese Government has blocked this site because there is no reason why they should block it.
I also do not know why there are two wikis.
yulghunwiki has been inactive for many months already. The articles created in yulghunwiki cannot be linked to other wikipedia languages such as Uzbek, Kazakh, Kirghiz, English, Russian etc. That is its weakness. --Jose77 22:53, 31 3-Ay 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your response

Good to know that, then i will stick to this one. It is true that they have already blocked wiki for few months by now, thats the most ridiculous thing, i have no idea why.I mean whole wiki they are blocking, i have friends all over china, all keep saying its not available, even chinese version! Anyway, I think they will let it go in near future, they can not block forever! lets hope the best

Barat

Here is an IP address of a recent contributor [6]. The person's location could be tracked to Xinjiang. It seems that Uyghur Wikipedia has been unblocked in China and is now accessible to everyone again. If anyone is using an internet from Xinjiang, please tell me if I am correct or not. --Jose77 01:28, 6 3-Ay 2009 (UTC)

important

Today i found that there is a warning message on the another uyghur wiki that it has to be closed. Its no good i think, cuz that site already has 30000 articles and available to uyghur people in china, i should mention that almost 9 million uyghur people is living there and they use arabic script. If its closed, then its gonna be a great loss. Is it possible to get those articles directly to here? Barat
The discussion has finished now. The result is KEEP. --Jose77 20:18, 17 Awghust 2007 (UTC)

Sandboks

Sorry for using English, but it seems the best way to communicate with the administrator. I think

ساندبوكس,

sandboks, & сандбокс would be better transliterations. We could also use a calque maybe along the lines of kumak-kutu. I also think

كوممۇنیتي پورتال &

Коммунитй портал should be linked to http://ug.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_Jamiyeti like kommunity portal. Thecurran 03:02, 19 Awghust 2007 UTC

Betawiki: better support for your language in MediaWiki

Dear community. I am writing to you to promote a special wiki called Betawiki. This wiki facilitates the localisation (l10n) of the MediaWiki interface. You may have changed many messages here to use your language in the interface, but if you would log in to for example the Japanese language Wiktionary, you would not be able to use the interface as well translated as here. In fact, of 1,736 messages in the core of MediaWiki, 5.99% of the messages have been translated. Betawiki also supports the translation of messages for 126 extensions, with 2,174 messages. Many of them are used in WMF projects and they are vital for understanding the wiki. Currently 0.00% of the WMF extension messages have been translated. Translators for over 90 languages contribute their work to MediaWiki this way every month.

If you wish to contribute to better support of your language in MediaWiki, as well as for many MediaWiki extensions, please visit Betawiki, create an account and request translator privileges. You can see the current status of localisation of your language on MediaWiki.org and do not forget to get in touch with others that may already be working on your language on Betawiki.

If you have any further questions, please let me know on my talk page on Betawiki. We will try and assist you as much as possible, for example by importing all messages from a local wiki for you to start with, if you so desire.

You can also find us on the Freenode IRC network in the channel #mediawiki-i18n where we will be happy to help you get started.

Thank you very much for your attention and I do hope to see some of you on Betawiki soon! Thanks, GerardM@Betawiki

Bot policy

Hello. To facilitate steward granting of bot access, I suggest implementing the standard bot policy on this wiki. In particular, this policy allows stewards to automatically flag known interlanguage linking bots (if this page says that is acceptable), which form the vast majority of such requests. The policy also enables global bots on this wiki (if this page says that is acceptable), which are trusted bots that will be given bot access on every wiki that allows global bots.

This policy makes bot access requesting much easier for local users, operators, and stewards. To implement it we only need to create a redirect to this page from Project:Bot policy, and add a line at the top noting that it is used here. Please read the text at m:Bot policy before commenting. If you object, please say so; I hope to implement in one week if there is no objection, since it is particularly written to streamline bot requests on wikis with little or no community interested in bot access requests.
