Inspired by Max Thieriot’s own experiences growing up in Northern California, Fire Country stars the SEAL Team alum as Bode Leone, a young convict who sought redemption (and a shortened sentence) by joining the Three Rock prison-release firefighting program, where he and other inmates are partnered with Cal Fire’s Station 42 to extinguish wildfires across the region. But what Bode was not expecting was to be stationed in his hometown of Edgewater, where five years prior he “burned down everything in his life” and then left, harboring a big secret regarding the details of his sister’s death in a car crash where he had been behind the wheel.
The hit series’ cast also boasts The Closer‘s Billy Burke and Rescue Me‘s Diane Farr as Cal Fire chief Vince and his firefighter wife Sharon, aka Bode’s parents; Lucifer‘s Kevin Alejandro as Cal Fire captain Manny; Black Lightning‘s Jordan Calloway as Jake; Penny Dreadful: City of Angels‘ Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela; and Guilty Party’s Jules Latimer as Eve, the Cal Fire chief now in charge of training the Three Rock cons.
Fire Country airs Fridays at 9/8c on CBS, and can be streamed next day on Paramount+.
