You can make is shorter by a couple of inches (5cm) if you need; it will then fit smaller pens but not pencils. Fabrics are quilting cotton, the exterior is interfaced with fusible fleece. Dimensions: 4.5" wide by 9" tall (11.4cm by 22.9cm). I used a #3 ykk nylon zipper, the prepared length should be 8" (20.3cm) so get a zipper that is 9" (23cm) minimum. I used 1" wide elastic. Seam allowance is 1/4" (6mm). When measuring the elastic, make sure it's taunt but not stretched. Make sure you sew over the elastic a few times.
