The whole combination comes alive with one variety of Tulip 🌷in this case Tulipa kaufmanniana ‘Ice Stick’ (good as a it flower too) rising above a sea carpet of blue Chionodoxa forbesii. A spreading Prunus x yedoensis frames the entire scene in the background, with it’s spreading outstretched branches it seems to be hugging the flowers below. One of the earliest and loveliest spring flowering bulbs, Chionodoxa forbesii 'Blue Giant' (Glory of the Snow) is a bulbous perennial boasting loose one-sided racemes of up to 8 star-like, upward facing, six-petaled blue flowers with diffused margined white eyes. Blooming in very early spring, the charming blossoms are borne atop the foliage of 2-3 narrow, semi-erect, basal leaves. A great naturalizer, 'Blue Giant' adds several weeks of color and beauty to the garden.
