When we moved in, this was the first room that we renovated and money was tight, so we had little choice than to do it on a budget. . By bidding farewell to the moth-ridden carpet, we uncovered the raw beauty of the floorboards beneath. Hubby sanded the floorboards (absolutely awful task FYI) and replaced several damaged ones and we decided to leave the floorboards untreated, in their natural beauty. We added DIY alcove units as the bespoke alcove units that we were quoted were out of our budget at that time.
