I'm thirdblindmouse, Third Mouse, or tbm.
I mostly use this journal to write about and discuss shows/books/movies/comics and fanworks thereof. I welcome any commenters (including complete strangers) who care to drop by and share their two cents; we can have an argument or a celebration or an offhand discussion; it will be fun. Although I haven't posted many lately, I've always enjoyed making lists and charts and tables and surveys and databases and indexes. My other main fannish preoccupation is vidding. I love making vids, I love watching vids, I love discussing vids. Vids are a lot like written meta, and in some ways they are even better. The effect of addressing an audiovisual work with an audiovisual response -- to speak back to the source 'text' with its own footage -- is powerful. Add to that the joy of the music video medium itself, which is a lot like dancing -- a pleasing coördination of auditory and visual stimuli. My own vids may not often live up to this, but I often make vid recs.
Most of my fandoms are science fiction and fantasy television shows, but my tastes aren't limited to that genre or medium. I'm multifannish at heart, even if my posting patterns appear serially monofannish. I'm always open to discussing old fandoms or picking up a new fandom. There are many fandoms I've gotten into for the sole reason of wanting to read the meta and watch the vids centered around them. I'm following some currently airing series, but generally I'm better at things I can marathon or archive binge on. Do you love an old forgotten source that needs more love? Tell me about it; I'm interested.
Current fandoms: vidding, classic movies & classic movie musicals, Haven, and Star Trek (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT).
Past fandoms: The Avengers (UK), Battlestar Galactica (reboot), Buffy & Angel, Community, Dark Angel, DC comics, Doctor Who & Torchwood, Due South, Fast & Furious series, Firefly, Gilbert & Sullivan, Glee, The Hour, House MD, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Merlin, The Middleman, Sherlock Holmes, Smallville, Space Patrol Orion, Stargate, Starsky & Hutch, Tintin, Ultraviolet (TV), and Xena.
Things I like that are not fannish: languages, computers, and primary sources from bygone days.
Friending/Circle policy: Reciprocate only if you want to; I don't promise reciprocation either. I only lock personal posts, so you don't need (or necessarily want) to be on my Access list to read this journal. I do not use filters for reading or posting.
