Check-in #1!
May. 26th, 2018 06:06 pmHi everyone!
Um, yeah, we're late on the first check-in - sorry about that. Work has been hell, and actually, Mondays are a terrible time for setting up check-ins. Definitely switching it to Fridays.
SO ANYWAY.
Tell us how things are going! How are your teams, how are your bangs, how is life?
Do you need anything? Can we help? Can we cheer? Can we provide cookies? Let us know!

May. 11th, 2018 07:49 pmLet's do this!
Hey SPN fam, this is the place to talk about what you want to do for SPNCC! Let the crazy begin!
So, CC = creative chaos, and we expect to see exactly what makes this fandom so great: wild and unbridled creativity.
This bang is all about doing things that haven't been done. Bangs for pop-makers! Bangs for meta-writers! Bangs for chefs and cosplayers! Bangs for everybody! Also — BUILT IN CHEERLEADING. With the team format, it's all about finding your people and egging them on to make stuff YOU want.
To that end, let's get this thing going! Let's start with the long-winded (sorry) rules. Please read them, if you need more info about any part of this. If you're feeling too restless or lazy or uninterested to wade through all of that, here's the TL;DR of how this thing works:
So, teams! This post is all about finding people to join forces with, people that share your love of tentacles or robots or robots with tentacles (or team free will, or the musical episode, or Baby, or literally anything). You'll support each other (and/or bring on team cheerleaders, whipcrackers, and alpha consumers) and, when the bang goes live, you'll have MORE STUFF FOR THAT THING YOU LOVE!
If you have any questions, concerns, comments, ideas, plot bunnies, spare parts, or a soul you're willing to sell, go ahead and summon a mod.

TL;DR:
1. Decide what kind of team you want (Open = anyone can join, Closed = just the people you name)
2. If it's open, advertise (party post on Dreamwidth, party post on Livejournal, check out our tumblr for a party post to reblog, and check out our Twitter for something to retweet (don't forget your team name hashtags and #openteamspncc!))
3. Decide your team name
4. Decide your team wrangler
5. Sign up here!

Here on Dreamwidth, the easiest way to advertise is to put up a comment and start talking. A couple of hints:
1. Use the subject line. If you have an idea for team name, team theme, or just your own bang and you're looking for people to create similar/compatible works, use that subject line to let people know at a glance what you're looking for.
2. Figure out your team platform. If you want to talk real-time-ish, ask for the mods to set up a channel in the official discord or slack. Or create a hashtag for twitter so people can find you there! If you want to stay here, just use the threaded comments to hash things out.
3. Things you need to know before you sign up:
* Team name
* Team wrangler
* Is it an open team (anyone can join) or closed team (only members you name can join)?
4. That's it! Be sure to actually sign up at some point before May 28, but other than that, go forth! Make friends! Make stuff! Be free!
If you have any questions, concerns, comments, ideas, plot bunnies, spare parts, or a soul you're willing to sell, go ahead and summon a mod.
Admin Post: Welcome to SPN Creative Chaos!
May. 6th, 2018 11:37 pmHey there, Supernatural fandom.
We'd like to talk to you about making fanworks. Big fanworks. Like, ahem, big bang-sized fanworks.
There are a lot of big bangs out there in the Supernatural fandom. Some are focused on a particular relationship, some are focused on a particular format (reverse bangs FTW!) and others are more broadly focused.
All these things are great, because more fanworks = AWESOME! But we'd sure like to see even MORE big fanworks out there, and we'd like to have a whole lot of fun doing it. And so, we're introducing the Supernatural Creative Chaos challenge.
So, what exactly IS this thing?
It's a Supernatural Big Bang Challenge — with a twist.
This big bang is not fic only. Anyone can create any large piece and submit it as a bang work. As long as it relates to Supernatural in some way, you can do it! Canon, RPF, AU, tangentially-related crafts, swimming for charity, whatever — this is a big, wide, open space. Let's do all kinds of crazy things!
You heard us. Any type of work can be a big bang, so any person can make a big bang. Authors, sure, but artists, podficcers, crafters, reccers, meta specialists, picspammers, butchers, bakers, gif set makers — the list goes on and on. If you can think it up, you can do it in a big bang way! Size limits for the media we could think of are included (see the table a little ways down), but if we didn't mention a type of fanwork you'd like to make or do as a big bang, please find the nearest crossroads and summon a mod and we can discuss size and submission requirements.
In addition, since we know not everyone is up for making big big bangs, we're going to have mini bangs! Anyone can make anything in a mini bang size, too! Again, if we haven't mentioned a type of fanwork you'd like to make as a mini bang below, please summon a mod and we can discuss size and submission requirements.
Finally, we are recruiting enthusiasm experts. If you enjoy being a beta, a cheerleader, a whipcracker, an alpha or any other type of random squee generator, topical expert, or general helper, we want you to join in the fun and help our teams get all those glorious fanworks completed!
There's another twist to this bang. We've heard the complaints about big bangs wanting to posts works all at once vs chaptered works. We're going to allow creators to post as WIPs with a few specific rules. We want to have the complete works go live by the deadline date, but as long as you have a complete work, you can post it however you like (with a few caveats).
( Rules and Timeline )
TL;DR:
1. Decide what kind of team you want (Open = anyone can join, Closed = just the people you name)
2. If it's open, advertise (party post on Dreamwidth, party post on Livejournal, reblog this post on tumblr, retweet this on Twitter (don't forget your team name hashtags and #openteamspncc!))

Questions? Comments? Railing against the unfairness of it all? Let's hug it out.
