vEMan - [v]Mware [E]SX [Man]ager provides a GUI for managing ESX servers natively from within your Linux desktop without the need to use Windows vSphere® anymore!

Why I started vEMan? Because I hate it to start my Windows VM to manage ESX(i) servers ;o)
vEMan is (maybe) not needed if you use vCenter 5.x: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2005377
--> vSphere >= v5 has a "web client"
BUT keep in mind that there are caveats: Not all features are available in the web client AND it can connect to vCenters only (see: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1006095)
- ESX(i) v3.x or 4.x?
- v5.x - but no vCenter?
- you want a native Linux vSphere client?
Then try vEMan!

Excellent project. Thanks for your great work. Really helpful

I love it very much. It run smoothly on my Ubuntu 15.10 beta with some steps before it works.

What has been done, is good! For it to be usefull means: the ability to power VMs on or off, have a console that works and being able to change VM settings. ++ I've had fun setting up a Ubuntu system with ver 0.9.6 of vEMan. It taught me more about Linux and a couple of limitations of ESXi 5.1 (free). Sadly I still have to run Windows so that I can run vsphere and make changes. As far as using vEMan as a monitor, I can do that on my ipad, or ipod. Once more features are enabled, a detailed installation guide would be nice, for those not wanting as much fun as I had. Looking forward to the next versions.
