I discovered Jaxe when I was viewing a web page about XSLT or something like that on Fri. Sep. 21, 2018 -- the first day of Fall. Jaxe needs much improving. The software project began in 2008 and was last updated in 2011. That's a long time ago. On output, Jaxe 3.5 uses FOP 0.95, a bit outdated, as it hails from 2008. An update to the more recent FOP 2.3 is in order. For the XSLT processor Jaxe uses SAXON 9he (Home Edition) instead of the commercial 9ee (Enterprise Edition) which is included in Oxygen editor. That's why Jaxe is FREE. 1) For one, there could be graphic buttons at the top of the editor. I'm just used to seeing that. 2) It could also use cleanup of the list of Elements -- they are not in alphabetical order which could make finding the correct element a bit easier. 3) A LARGER font size for the interface and editor (content) text. An older person like myself, or someone with impaired vision issues would have a difficult time seeing what they're writing or modifying. Please make a Preferences easy to upsize or downsize the fonts. Not everyone who makes web pages is 20 or 30 years old. 4) A Verbose mode when Exporting to PDF. Currently Jaxe accesses the hard drive while it is processing the XML document. There is no feedback on the Progress of that process. I have had situations where a DocBook document was being processed and I didn't know if Jaxe had fully converted the file to PDF or not. Upon checking, the file was very small or zero kilobytes. Perhaps a Progress meter or something to show the file is being worked on. I'm looking forward to seeing further development of Jaxe in the coming years.
