build under debian stable succeeds, but wehn importing MySQLdb in python i get the following error: _mysql.so: undefined symbol: __gxx_personality_v0

can be fixed by applying the attached patch file and rebuilding.

Confirming this bug exists on Solaris as well, and that this patch resolved it.
