matplotlib Code

Use a custom encoding containing all of the used glyphs when writing out a Postscript Type 3 font. This resolves a bug when converting Ps output containing non-standard characters (such as the minus sign) to Pdf using ps2pdf/gs 8.7 or later.

Fix solaris builds where "putchar" is a macro.

Avoid malloc errors in ttconv for fonts that don't have e.g. PostName
as entry (1,0,0,6) in the name table (a version of Tahoma triggered this)

Remove %%EOF comment from embedded fonts, in an attempt to resolve Paul Novak's strange Postscript error.
