Hello everyone,

What is the best way to submit bugfixes for LogicalDOC? Because I did 
not see a bugtracker, I thought I'll just outline my fix in the mailing 
list. Here goes :)


My colleague encountered a nasty little bug in LogicalDOC's CMIS 
support. He ported the Apache VFS CMIS provider to the latest version of 
Apache VFS (check it out here: 
https://github.com/topicusfinan/commons-vfs-cmis)

The bug is in the "getObjectByPath" method, when calling it with a 
non-existing path. A little funny, but this is the way the VFS provider 
works. It then catches the CmisObjectNotFoundException and goes on its 
merry way (generating an imaginary VFS file, which will be created for 
real later).

The bug is that the "getObjectByPath" method does not throw a 
CmisObjectNotFoundException, but rather just returns NULL. The OpenCMIS 
framework specifies that that is illegal in the Javadoc above the 
method: "Object infos should contain the returned object." (See here for 
the class: 
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/chemistry/opencmis/trunk/chemistry-opencmis-commons/chemistry-opencmis-commons-impl/src/main/java/org/apache/chemistry/opencmis/commons/impl/server/AbstractCmisService.java)

The fix for the bug would be in function 
com.logicaldoc.cmis.LDRepository.getObjectByPath(CallContext, String, 
String, Boolean, IncludeRelationships, String, Boolean, Boolean, 
ExtensionsData). Just append the lines to LDRepository.java around line 
992 (replacing "return out;"):

if (out == null) {
     throw new CmisObjectNotFoundException("Object not found!");
} else {
     return out;
}

This prevents 
org.apache.chemistry.opencmis.server.impl.atompub.ObjectService$GetObjectByPath.serve 
throwing a stacktrace, and instead returns a correct 404 HTTP response.

I'm trying to finish a Danish translation of LogicalDoc, the translation 
is is being proofread by members of the Danish launchpad translators team.
There are some few strings I need you to comment on. Regarding these 
Italian strings, it would be a good idea to translate them to English or 
write an English comment about the meaning of these names/sentences.

Hi, I was hoping to grab the latest tagged source, but all I see under 
"Files" is the source for 5.0.1 and 5.0; nothing there for 5.1.1. Is 
this available somewhere? I checked under "tags" in SVN and it doesn't 
look like that's been used since version 4.5.2.

have you managed to build the workflow module for LogicalDOC 5.0?
Indeed activate this module is more complicated because the workflow 
module has a dependency from the APIs of the web module of logicaldoc.
So starting from the sources and from the instructions already provided 
in the README present in the source archive i will guide you in this 
process.

1) go into web-module folder; logicaldoc/logicaldoc-web
    launch the command: mvn -Dmaven.test.skip=true install

2) go into workflow module folder: logicaldoc-workflow
    launch the command: mvn -Dmaven.test.skip=true install

To this point you have 2 options:
1) Build a complete war file of LogicalDOC 5.0 complete with the 
workflow module
     a) modify the pom.xml of the web-module
        go into the web-module folder: logicaldoc/logicaldoc-web
        open the pom.xml with your favorite text editor
       adds the following section after the: 
logicaldoc-external-authentication   artifactItem

find the .war of logicaldoc 5.0 with the workflow plugin compiled inside
       logicaldoc.war\WEB-INF\plugins\logicaldoc-workflow-5.0.0-plugin.zip

2) Simply Add the workflow plugin to an already deplowed LD web-application
     a) deploy LD on tomcat by putting the .war file you can find in:  
logicaldoc/logicaldoc-web/target/
         to the tomcat/webapps folder
     b) Launch tomcat and ensure that the startup procedure complete
     c) Shutdown tomcat
     d) Copy the logicaldoc-workflow/target/<workdlow_plugin.zip>  into 
the folder
         tomcat/webapps/logicaldoc/WEB-INF/plugins
     e) restart tomcat
     f) perform the setup of logicaldoc 5.0

Following the developer's guide, I can get the trunk of LogicalDOC to 
build. However, I cannot get Maven to build the source of either 4.5.2

I am not familiar with Maven myself (I've always worked with Ant), but 
after reading for a bit I think the problem may be this "version 7" of 
the parent pom is not in the LogicalDOC repository? I changed the "7" to 
a "15" (the version in the pom.xml of the trunk) and it gets further; it 
seems to find the parent pom in the repository but then fails with this 
error:

Validation Messages:
    [0]  'dependencies.dependency.version' is missing for quartz:quartz

I'm assuming that's related to differences in the 4.5.2 and trunk 
versions of the codebase (maybe Quartz was added in a later version?).

So, the big question is: If I download a .zip of the LogicalDOC source 
from SourceForge, how do I get it to build? Is there something that 
needs to be added to your Maven repository (those parent version 
numbers?), or am I doing something wrong?

The sources of LogicalDOC 4.6.1 (unreleased and taken from SVN)
are now available as a single .zip compressed archive to the following

Hi,

I am Sridhar, a new bee for Logicaldoc and want to join the development
activities. I have downloaded the Community version and was playing around
the stuff also with the source code available at sourceforge. Its really a
very useful tool.
I have some experience with tagging and indexing documents so I thought I
could add that extending tagging to LogicalDoc but require some support on
how to start with the LogicalDoc code.

Hello,

I am trying to create a simplified Chinese localisation and I notice that
the FacesMessageBundle.properties file looks rather funny. It is as though
the first two letters of every string template are missing. What is that
file used for anyway? Will it affect anything in the web UI if I leave it
like that and only edit the application.properties file?

Actually, com.logicaldoc:logicaldoc-core:zip:plugin:4.5.2 was not the only
resource that Maven could not find, though those other ones did not cause an
immediate build failure; they are:
- betelio:betelio:pom:1.0
- oracle:oracle:pom:9.0.2.0.0

I already have the http://logicaldoc.sourceforge.net/maven repository
specified in pom.xml.

I am still unable to package the whole LogicalDOC into a WAR file because
Maven is unable to find resource
'com.logicaldoc:logicaldoc-core:zip:plugin:4.5.2'. This has been the case
since I first tried to package with "mvn -Dmaven.test.skip=true clean
package" yesterday.

from a cmd shell go inside the folder of the module logicaldoc-util
and type the command:

mvn -Dmaven.test.skip=true clean package

if all goes well you should find a new packaged jar inside the folder target

I made a minor modification to LogicalDOC to suite my needs: I made TagUtil
extract tags in a much simpler manner by only splitting the tag string at
commas and then trimming. The official implementation splits at spaces,
commas, and truncates hyphens; and I don't want all that.

What is the recommended way to pack it into a jar? I have unzipped the
official logicaldoc-util-4.5.2.jar to see what's inside and I find files
related to Maven, besides the usual class files. Maven is all new to me and
I don't know how it works, so please forgive my noobiness.

thanks for reporting, i've just done so,
however there were no further changes on the 4.5 branch after the 
release 4.5.2, so even if i made it with delay the tagged sources are 
still exact

the folder where you are watching i the correct one
