<h2>Overview</h2>
<p>The lispbuilder-opengl package is a part of the <a href="http://www.lispbuilder.org/">Common
Lisp Application Builder</a> project which is in turn a part of the umbrella
<a href="http://www.lispniks.com/cl-gardeners/">Common Lisp Gardeners</a> project.</p>
<p>The goal of lispbuilder-opengl is to provide a set of OpenGL CFFI bindings for Lisp.</p>
<h2>Supported Implementations</h2>

<h2>Description</h2>
<p>The OpenGL bindings in lispbuilder-opengl are grouped by OpenGL version. OpenGL v1.1 bindings are
placed into the lispbuilder-openrm-1-1 package. OpenGL v1.2 bindings are in lispbuilder-openrm-1-2, and
OpenGL v1.3 bindings are in lispbuilder-openrm-1-3. Bindings for glext are placed in the
lispbuilder-opengl-ext package.</p>
<p>The reasons for not placing all OpenGL bindings into a single package are due to the FFI implementation in CLISP.
CLISP will attempt to verify that each binding is available in the DLL at load time. This is not a problem in Linux as
Linux users will more than likely have the latest OpenGL drivers installed.
However Microsoft only provides a default v1.1 OpenGL driver for Windows. Newer OpenGL drivers supporting OpenGL v1.2
and v1.3 functionality must be retrieved from the graphics card manufacturer's website and installed by the user.
In Windows therefore we can safely assume only OpenGL v1.1 support. The user is free to use the 1-2 and 1-3
bindings if the latest OpenGL drivers are installed.</p>
<p>
<h2>Prerequisites</h2>
<p>ASDF and CFFI are prerequisites for running lispbuilder-opengl. Instructions for the installation of these packages
are described in the
<a href="../../lispbuilder-sdl/documentation/index.html#Prerequisites">lispbuilder-sdl documentation</a>.
The lispbuilder-sdl package is not a prerequisite for use of the general lispbuilder-opengl bindings.
However lispbuilder-sdl is required to run the example 'opengl-gears' in the lispbuilder-opengl-examples package.
This example relies on SDL to create the OpenGL context and process incoming events.
Make sure that lispbuilder-sdl is installed prior to loading lispbuilder-opengl-examples.

<h2>Configuration on Win32 Platforms</h2>
<h3>ASDF Configuration</h3>

will also be loaded into the Lisp image at this time.</p>

<h2>Running the included examples</h2>

<p>To verify that lispbuilder-opengl is installed correctly, run the gears example by entering:</p>

<p>The example will automatically pull in the bindings for OpenGL v1.1. You should see the animated gears demo appear
in a window. Click-drag the mouse to change the viewing angles. </p>

<h2>To make the wrappers:</h2>
<p>The <a href="../build/">build/</a> directory contains three C header files, 'gl_1_1.h', 'gl_1_2.h' and 'gl_1_2.h' containing
the declarations and definitions from the Mesa v 6.4.2 gl.h header file for the the respective versions of OpenGL.
Run the swig interface files (opengl_1_1_swig.i, opengl_1_2_swig.i, opengl_1_3_swig.i and openglextswig.i) in
the build/ directory to create the CFFI bindings.<br />
