Hi Damien,

The preferred workflow would be to create fork, apply your patch and create a pull request to the official maintainer (more info: http://www.codepool.biz/version-control/co-work-with-git-on-sourceforge-and-github.html).

However, de maintainer already mentions on the project page he can only offer limited support since he does not have access to a clearcase server any more. So I'm not sure if he will be able to test and include you patch.

Summary: Compare with Predecessor not working with BeyondCompare

when I select the "Compare with Predecessor" while using Beyond Compare, I get a File not found on the left side of BeyondCompare.

BeyondCompare might not be smart enough to handle clearcase?
Not sure if it makes a difference, but this is in Windows.

Trying to rename a file/folder will cause an error to be shown:
Rename Resource
An exception has been caught while processing the refactoring 'Rename Resource'.
Reason:
Element is already checked out.

Clicking details only show:
Element is already checked out.

Clicking OK and then trying to rename again will cause the file/folder to be renamed.

It appears that the parent folder was checked out the first time(requires refresh state to be shown), and because of this the second renaming attempt is successful.

CCase version: 2.2.29

I checked code and it does it twice becasue normally a move is done from
one directory to another. But in this special case we just rename so source
and destination is the same. And I am not sure this is currently handled. I
will take a look at see if it is supporting the 'rename' case. If not I
will implement support for it this weekend.

I have tried your test version and unfortunately the behaviour is still the
same.

Before the attempt to rename a file everything is checked in.
After the rename attempt, independent of whether the Undo or Abort button
was selected in the Error dialog, the parent folder is checked out
(requires a refresh state to be shown).

I've added a screenshot of the error dialog.

I am using BeyondCompare as my external diff tool.  While BeyondCompare does start, Eclipse keeps up it's "Compare started..." dialog box, and doesn't let you do anything until BeyondCompare is closed.  You can RunInBackground, but perhaps the BeyondCompare process should be kicked off in another thread, so that control can be brought back to Eclipse immediately.

I have tried your test version and unfortunately the behaviour is still the
same.

Before the attempt to rename a file everything is checked in.
After the rename attempt, independent of whether the Undo or Abort button
was selected in the Error dialog, the parent folder is checked out
(requires a refresh state to be shown).

I've added a screenshot of the error dialog.

exception is file is already checked out. There is actually no need to
throw exception but just return ok since the file is already checkout.

I tested the fix for Timeout problems with long running cleartool process - ID: 3036429 and it was working great.  It even worked over the weekend.

but yesterday I upgraded to 2.2.29 and this morning I am having problems again.
It might not be the same problem though, as I'm not seeing anything show up in the clearcase console.  It's like it doesn't even try to checkout the file.

Summary: Using BeyondCompare blocks Eclipse

I am using BeyondCompare as my external diff tool.  While BeyondCompare does start, Eclipse keeps up it's "Compare started..." dialog box, and doesn't let you do anything until BeyondCompare is closed.  You can RunInBackground, but perhaps the BeyondCompare process should be kicked off in another thread, so that control can be brought back to Eclipse immediately.
