It is a compression scheme with better compression and recovery from
damaged archives than zip. The program from the company that invented it
is WinRAR which can be found at: http://www.rarsoft.com/

WinRAR also supports the zip format, that is it can open, create and
extract zip files too.

I have  a Programme installation file with ".rar" extention
and the instruction given is to 'unrar' the same and instal.
Which proramme is used to 'unrar ' the same and where it is available.
