[Dev-C++] Invalid initializer for an array.

Just wanted to thank everyone who responded to my question.  The glaring 
mistake was a typo in the text book I am using showing ( ) where it should 
have been { }.  All the answers were correct and I am encouraged to know 
where to go for help.  Hopefully I can return the favor for some one else 
in the near future.
