For one thing, please pick some logical variable names. Another point, why use "case 8:" with a character switch? It's a lot more readable if you use the actual characters. For the strings, you should be able to use "char *" instead. Hi, I'm trying to compile a very simple example from a Win32 programming book. Somewhere in my winproc, my program goes like "PlaySound ("c:/winnt/media/chimes.wav", NULL, SND_FILENAME | SND_ASYNC) ;" The error I get is: "[Linker error] undefined reference to 'PlaySoundA@12'" It's pretty much my first Windows program (kind of "hello world!", so I think it shouldn't be much of a problem). The source code is intended to be compiled using VC++, wich I don't own or plan to use. Looking through MSDN, I discovered that the PlaySound function needs "winmm.lib" in order to compile, which I obtained by downloading the "Core SDK" from MSDN. I added this file to my "C:\Dev-Cpp\lib" directory, and I think that this is working because when I intentionally omit one of the arguments the compiler is able to tell. Anyone out there knows what might be the problem ? Thanks ------------ ¡Internet GRATIS es Yahoo! Conexión! Usuario "yahoo", contraseña "yahoo". Desde Buenos Aires, 4004-1010. I'm using Dev-C++ 4, and I really don't understand why I'm getting an, "undefined reference to 'GetStockObject@4' " message? Below is how I've = registered the class //Register Main Window Class winclass.style =3D CS_HREDRAW|CS_VREDRAW; winclass.lpfnWndProc =3D FrameWinProc; winclass.cbClsExtra =3D 0; winclass.cbWndExtra =3D 0; winclass.hInstance =3D hInstance; winclass.hIcon =3D LoadIcon(NULL, IDI_APPLICATION); winclass.hCursor =3D LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW); winclass.hbrBackground =3D (HBRUSH)GetStockObject(WHITE_BRUSH); winclass.lpszMenuName =3D DefaultMenu; winclass.lpszClassName =3D FrameClass; if((RegisterClass(&winclass)) =3D=3D 0 ) return 0; Can anyone please help? Thank Damien, The problem is fixed now. Its abit strange but my default language is C++ and going through the compile log I noticed that the make file was using gcc for the compilation so i decided to create a now project and added the same files but this time making sure that the make file uses g++ and it compiled without problems. I added the same files again to the old project that uses gcc and the same problem came up. I find it strange because i thought gcc and g++ were pretty much the same. Thanx --- Damien Alleyne <g_...@ho...> wrote: --------------------------------- Well Napoleon, unless i'm mistaken, and you did not download your tutorial from here, http://www.gametutorials.com/Tutorials/opengl/OpenGL_Pg2.htm, I don't see the prob you seem to be having. Unless you modified the code or are referring to another tutorial, I don't see why you needed the GL_BGR_EXT to be declared in the first place. The code has no reference to it.
