Oh OK. Thanks again for your help. So... one question... because the recv function receives only string(char*); do I have to break it down to find the (for example) the 'GET' method then look after a space line to find what is requesting? _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail® has ever-growing storage! Thanks for trying to answer but like i said... I really don't want to use no other external libraries like curl or chilkat or WinNet or any other... I want to know how does a server process HTTP requests by just using #include <winsock2.h> and no other winsock base libraries. _________________________________________________________________ Insert movie times and more without leaving Hotmail®. http://windowslive.com/Tutorial/Hotmail/QuickAdd?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_HM_Tutorial_QuickAdd_062009 |

Hello, Well, I got tire of looking around on google... So, why not ask here, maybe someone will tell me the answer... How can I process HTTP requests using plain windows sockets. No external library. I just want to get the idea for learning purpose. Hello Jorge, Two things I notice are. 1. In answer to your question about Chinese characters - The rand() function will generate a random number between 0 and 32767 (or more accurately 0 to RAND_MAX) which you are casting into a char. ASCII printable characters reside in the range from 32 to 126. 2. You are not generating random numbers as you expect because you have not set a seed with which to generate random numbers from. Check the function srand. The way it stands now, you will produce the same sequence of characters each time the program is run. The closest approximation to "random" is to use the system clock as a seed as this is different with each execution of the program. void crearArchivo(char* nombreArchivo, int n) { ofstream fSalida; fSalida.open(nombreArchivo); srand(time(NULL)); // Set a random seed if(fSalida.is_open()) { for(int i=0;i<n;i++) { char c=(char)(rand() % 94 + 32); //Only generate numbers in range 32 to 126 fSalida<<c; } } else { cout<<"el arhivo no se pudo crear"; } fSalida.close(); } int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { crearArchivo("nuevo.txt",1000) ; system("PAUSE"); return EXIT_SUCCESS; } Cheers, Matt > From: Jorge Guevara [mailto:jor...@gm...] > Sent: 16 June 2009 21:25 > To: dev...@li... > Subject: [Dev-C++] chinese characters > I need to generate random characters for experiment with string matching algorithms , n=size of text > nombreArchivo=filename, when n is small the code below generate ascii characters, but when n is greater, (example n > =7000000), the code below generate chinesse characters, why? > sorry for my english :) > void crearArchivo(char* nombreArchivo, int n) > { > ofstream fSalida; > fSalida.open(nombreArchivo); > if(fSalida.is_open()) > { > for(int i=0;i<n;i++) > { char c=(char)rand(); > fSalida<<c; > } > } > else > { > cout<<"el arhivo no se pudo crear"; > } > fSalida.close(); > } > int main() > { > crearArchivo("nuevo.txt",1000) ; > system("PAUSE"); > return EXIT_SUCCESS; > } > -- > Jorge This email was sent from an email account of BMW (UK) Manufacturing Limited. I need to generate random characters for experiment with string matching algorithms , n=size of text nombreArchivo=filename, when n is small the code below generate ascii characters, but when n is greater, (example n =7000000), the code below generate chinesse characters, why? sorry for my english :) void crearArchivo(char* nombreArchivo, int n) { ofstream fSalida; fSalida.open(nombreArchivo); if(fSalida.is_open()) { for(int i=0;i<n;i++) { char c=(char)rand(); fSalida<<c; } } else { cout<<"el arhivo no se pudo crear"; } fSalida.close(); } int main() { crearArchivo("nuevo.txt",1000) ; system("PAUSE"); return EXIT_SUCCESS; } -- Jorge |

Replying to my own thread to say I found the answer. It is simple - http://www.uniqueness-template.com/devcpp/ This site tells me: # Go to "Project" menu and choose "Project Options" (or just press ALT+P). # Go to the "Parameters" tab # In the "Linker" field, enter the following text: -lgdi32 Andy Andrew S Katz (tb) said the following on 5/14/2009 11:40 PM: > My program has the following: > > #include <windows.h> > > And later on, > LineTo( hDC, sx+2, sy+h+2 ); > > And when I link, I get the error: > [Linker error] undefined reference to `LineTo@12' > > NOTE: I am creating my own DLL and I want it to access the Windows DLL. > > A. Not sure what you mean. You say that you get the error when you are linking, so are you bulding an EXE file or a DLL? The linking step is for an EXE file, and then you must add a reference to used libraries - this also includes any Windows libraries used. It is only the RTL libraries part of the language that the linker may pick up automatically. /pwm On Thu, 14 May 2009, Andrew S Katz (tb) wrote: > My program has the following: > > #include <windows.h> > > And later on, > LineTo( hDC, sx+2, sy+h+2 ); > > And when I link, I get the error: > [Linker error] undefined reference to `LineTo@12' > > NOTE: I am creating my own DLL and I want it to access the Windows DLL. > > A. My program has the following: #include <windows.h> And later on, LineTo( hDC, sx+2, sy+h+2 ); And when I link, I get the error: [Linker error] undefined reference to `LineTo@12' NOTE: I am creating my own DLL and I want it to access the Windows DLL. A. K. |

Hello everyone. As I have already told you, on an earlier post, I am currently developing a InstallShield(R) 'Setup' app look-alike. However I have run into, what seems to be, a dead end. While displaying the "License Agreement" frame, the Edit control that displays the licensing text is created with code : /*************** *** Assume : *** static HWND phControls[10]; *** size_t editControl = 2; */ phControls[ editControl ] = CreateWindowEx( WS_EX_LEFT|WS_EX_RIGHTSCROLLBAR|WS_EX_CLIENTEDGE, "EDIT", NULL, (WS_BORDER|WS_CHILD|!WS_VISIBLE|ES_LEFT|ES_MULTILINE|ES_AUTOVSCROLL|WS_VSCROLL|ES_READONLY), 30, 100, 440, 120, hAncestor, (HMENU)0, hInstance, NULL ); /****************/ I do all the necessary checkings, and load the text, to the control, with code: /**************** *** For simplicity I remove auxiliar error checking, and I ask you to assume : *** const size_t maximumAllowedStringToBeLoaded = 4096; *** char buffer[ maximumAllowedStringToBeLoaded ]; *** # define scSoftwareEULA 0x000000003 */ *** STRINGTABLE { *** scSoftwareEULA, "EULA : ............\r\n" *** } // In GuiResources.RC. if ( LoadString( GetModuleHandle(NULL), scSoftwareEULA , buffer, maximumAllowedStringToBeLoaded-1 ) != 0 ) SendMessage( phControls[ iterator ], WM_SETTEXT, ( WPARAM )( 0 ),( LPARAM )( buffer ) ) /************/ After all the other controls in the second frame are created, I apply a pre-initialized HFONT to the controls, including this editcontrol. The result, is a formatted control, corresponding to the defined flags in the CreateWindow call. However the control displays a grayish background. In attempting to resolve the issue I tried coloring the control when it is required. Below is the logic applied. code: /** *** This snippet resides within the hwnd, which is the main window of the application. *** It's handle is passed to the editcontrol as hAncestor. *** Therefore this window is EditControl's parent. *** *** Please, when reading the following snippet, assume EditBox_handle returns the correct EditBox handle. */ case WM_CTLCOLORSTATIC : { static int color = 0; if ( (HWND)lParam != (HWND)EditBox_handle ) return DefWindowProc (hwnd, message, wParam, lParam); else { if ( EditBox_handle != NULL && (HWND)lParam == (HWND)EditBox_handle && color < 1 ) { HDC deviceContext = (HDC)wParam; if ( ( deviceContext ) == NULL ) { return DefWindowProc (hwnd, message, wParam, lParam); } SetBkMode( deviceContext, TRANSPARENT ); SetBkColor( deviceContext, RGB( 0 , 0 , 0 ) ); if ( color < 1 ) { ShowWindow( EditBox_handle, FALSE ); color++; ShowWindow( EditBox_handle, TRUE ); } SetBkMode( deviceContext, OPAQUE ); } } /************/ This code does change the edit control background color. However this does not occour when the window is created. The lines that are displayed by the control, upon its first creation, display a gray background. The background changes only, when scrolling happens. I have, also found, that if we "hold" the vertical bar, and try to push it bellow the scroll limit, the last lines display again the gray background. Obviously I have miss something, beacause other applications do not suffer this situation. Could anyone please advice me on how to resolve this issue? Thank you for having the time to read all this :) Frederico Marques _________________________________________________________________ Emoticons e Winks super diferentes para o Messenger. Backslash is a special character in C strings, so to use an actual backslash character you need to double it: system("c:\\PTH.exe"); Surely sleep needs round brackets? Subject: [Dev-C++] C++ Program Shutdown Look-alike? Hello. I need a program to display the windows shutdown screen, turn off the monitor and sound, and (if possible) the LED on the power button on the computer?
