Release version of Commit Monitor uses compiler flag /O1 instead of /O2,
which makes app work faster.
App version 1.6.5.486. OS WinXP SP3.

The compiler switch can't make your network faster or your harddrive. So that switch
would do absolutely nothing for CommitMonitor.

I have already checked the way Commit Monitor works with this flag. Filling listctrl
speed improved significantly. And overall impression is that response time of whole app
decreased.
By the way, /O1 flag is quiet awkward - who cares now about size of small application?
