Changed to turn off any status bar hints each time a view is displayed.
This fixes bug #3577408 (): Clicking detail pane snippet link leaves hint displayed in status bar.
This is an ugly fix using the minimal code. The fix for the similar bug in v4.0 is much cleaner: the cleaner fix wasn't worth the effort in this old version.
