First of all thank you for the awesome product.

We use Panasonic toughbooks FZ-55 and we prepared an image with our custom software on one laptop and use the image to clone onto other laptops.
The Clonezilla Live 3.1.2-22-amd64 version to prepare and restore images. Rufus was used to prepare the USB from the Clonezilla ISO.

Every laptop is provided with a Telstra SIM card that is used to connect to a dedicated network.

The issue is on certain laptops, after the clone is restored and the new SIM inserted, they do not connect to the network.
The cellular network recognizes Telstra connection, but no active connection, i.e. no IP address.

As mentioned before, this is a problem only certain laptops.
Some cloned laptops connect fine and get an IP address.
If that same SIM is used on the the problematic laptop, there is no active connection.

The laptops are equipped with Sierra wireless snapdragon X7 LTE-A WWAN modem and the source laptop has all the latest versions installed.

With side-by-side comparison of the cloned laptops visually - firmware versions, network settings, 'mbn' interface settings, everything is the same.
But they just do not connect.

Could this be a restriction with Clonezilla not cloning firmware or software OR an issue with the network hardware ??

Could you please shed some light on the cause of the issue or any suggestion\changes to try ?

Let me know if more information is needed regarding the laptop setup.

"The issue is on certain laptops, after the clone is restored and the new SIM inserted, they do not connect to the network." -> So you meant the restored OS can not connect to the network with the new SIM card inserted?
If so, basically this is noting to do with Clonezilla. Clonezilla just clones the file system for you.
Hence the issue is on the restored OS. You'd better to check if you have to remove some settings in the restored OS (MS Windows?) or have to reactive the SIM device?

    Thanks Steven.
yes.. i meant that the restored OS is not connecting to the network.
we now assume that it could be a hardware fault too. checking up on that now.
there is no issue with the SIMs either... they were swapped with a working\source laptop and they connect fine.

one query - does clonezilla also clone bios or firmware settings ?

"one query - does clonezilla also clone bios or firmware settings ?" -> No.
One thing occurred to me is, maybe you can try to upgrade the firmware if your vendor provides newer version. It was reported in the past that the live Linux system triggered the buggy firmware and made the device fail to work well.

    Thank you Steven.

The source laptop's drivers were all updated (only some required update after we received from the vendor), and after cloning, the updated drivers were verified side-by-side, especially the WWAN related adapter and panasonic wireless switch for PC.
