    Extract internal monitoring data from application logs

    Extract internal monitoring data from application logs for collection in a time-series database. mtail is a tool for extracting metrics from application logs to be exported into a timeseries database or timeseries calculator for alerting and dashboarding. It fills a monitoring niche by being the glue between applications that do not export their own internal state (other than via logs) and existing monitoring systems, such that system operators do not need to patch those applications to instrument them or writing custom extraction code for every such application. The extraction is controlled by mtail programs which define patterns and actions. Metrics are exported for scraping by a collector as JSON or Prometheus format over HTTP, or can be periodically sent to a collectd, StatsD, or Graphite collector socket. Precompiled binaries for released versions are available in the Releases page on Github. Using the latest production release binary is the recommended way of installing mtail.

    TinyGo

    Go compiler for small place

    TinyGo brings the Go programming language to embedded systems and to the modern web by creating a new compiler based on LLVM. You can compile and run TinyGo programs on over 60 different microcontroller boards such as the BBC micro:bit and the Arduino Uno. TinyGo can also produce WebAssembly (WASM) code which is very compact in size. You can compile programs for web browsers, as well as for server and edge computing environments that support the WebAssembly System Interface (WASI) family of interfaces. TinyGo is a Go compiler intended for use in small places such as microcontrollers, WebAssembly (Wasm), and command-line tools. It reuses libraries used by the Go language tools alongside LLVM to provide an alternative way to compile programs written in the Go programming language. While TinyGo embeds the Clang compiler to parse import "C" blocks, many features of Cgo are still unsupported.

    GopherJS

    Compiler from Go to JavaScript for running Go code in a browser

    GopherJS compiles Go code to pure JavaScript code. Its main purpose is to give you the opportunity to write front-end code in Go which will still run in all browsers. Nearly everything is supported, including Goroutines (compatibility documentation). Performance is quite good in most cases, see HTML5 game engine benchmark. Cgo is not supported. GopherJS requires Go 1.16 or newer. If you need an older Go version, you can use an older Gopher release. GopherJS uses your platform's default GOOS value when generating code. Supported GOOS values are: linux, darwin. If you're on a different platform (e.g., Windows or FreeBSD), you'll need to set the GOOS environment variable to a supported value. gopherjs serve is a useful command you can use during development. It will start an HTTP server serving on ":8080" by default, then dynamically compile your Go packages with GopherJS and serve them.

    Wire

    Compile-time dependency injection for Go

    Wire is a code generation tool that automates connecting components using dependency injection. Dependencies between components are represented in Wire as function parameters, encouraging explicit initialization instead of global variables. Because Wire operates without runtime state or reflection, code written to be used with Wire is useful even for hand-written initialization. Dependency injection is a standard technique for producing flexible and loosely coupled code, by explicitly providing components with all of the dependencies they need to work. In Go, this often takes the form of passing dependencies to constructors. Dependency injection tools like Wire aim to simplify the management of initialization code. You describe your services and their dependencies, either as code or as configuration, then Wire processes the resulting graph to figure out ordering and how to pass each service what it needs.
