Kermit is a city in the state of Texas in the United States. It is the county seat of Winkler County. About 6,267 people lived there in 2020.[2] After Theodore Roosevelt came to the city, it was named for his son Kermit Roosevelt.[5] On July 16, 1926, after discovery of oil in the Hendrick oil field near Kermit, the city grew quickly.[6]
