Buzen Province
Buzen Province (豊前国, Buzen no kuni) was an old province of Japan in the area of Fukuoka Prefecture and Ōita Prefecture on the island of Kyūshū.[1] Along with Bungo Province, it was sometimes called Hōshū (豊州).
Buzen had borders with Bungo and Chikuzen Provinces.
The ancient capital city of the province was near Toyotsu, Fukuoka. [2]
History

In the Meiji period, the provinces of Japan were converted into prefectures. Maps of Japan and Buzen Province were reformed in the 1870s.[3]
Shrines and Temples
[change | change source]Usa-jinjū was the chief Shinto shrine (ichinomiya) of Buzen. [4]
